If I were to look for one word to capture 2026, it would be “trying”. It has been rough from the beginning and has only gotten worst. Although, this has also given me an opportunity to slow down. Really slow down and look at life — where I have been, where I am, everything there is to be grateful for, all the grief that needed release.
Breath-work and meditation has done wonders for my nervous system. Although, I would not say I am fully regulated yet. Gaining awareness of bodily reaction to emotions has been asset. I suspect most people do not naturally connect emotions with physical reactions, let alone try to regulate emotions through focus on physical resources, as my therapist calls it.
I am slowly transitioning back into work, managing the onset of symptoms that are often difficult to distinguish between mental health outcome vs physical. This is completely new territory for me. But I know I am not alone in this. Thanks to online forums, I know there are plenty of people out there balancing the same issues.
I guess the only way to move forward with this is to go through it.
